How structured inspection setup leads to faster inspections and same-day reporting

Overview
A structural inspection specialist was tasked with evaluating two distinctly different sites in Canada: the McLoughlin Wastewater Treatment Plant and the hockey grandstand at Tamanawis Park. Both projects required detailed documentation, timely reporting, and long-term asset tracking.
Using Eagle INSPECT, the inspector digitised site findings, created instant reports, and established comprehensive “health records” for each structure. The result: same-day reports, streamlined workflows, and a scalable approach to managing multiple client assets.
The Challenge
Each inspection required thorough documentation, including notes and images tied to specific asset areas. Previously, inspections were done with paper, pen, and a digital camera. Compiling inspection reports post-site visit often took hours, or even days, delaying delivery to asset owners.
In addition, there was no historical inspection data to reference, forcing inspectors to start from scratch with each new assignment. This not only slowed down the process but limited the ability to track structural changes over time.

At the large and complex McLoughlin Wastewater Treatment Plant, the inspector spent thirty minutes in advance preparing the inspection report template in Eagle INSPECT. Seven architectural drawings were uploaded into the app’s 2D view, and customised data fields were configured to match the inspection needs.
Using an iPad onsite, the inspector recorded photos and notes in real time. Defects were marked directly on the drawings, and all data was automatically saved to the cloud.
After the inspection, only five minutes were needed to select relevant data points and generate a detailed report using a pre-set electrical inspection template, significantly reducing report preparation time.

At the smaller-scale Tamanawis Park grandstand, no pre-inspection setup was necessary. During the site visit, the inspector captured defect photos, such as a misaligned drain and poor asphalt grading, and annotated them directly in the Eagle INSPECT app.
Post-inspection, documentation was quickly assembled and a report generated within the same day, offering the client fast access to critical information.
The Solution
By leveraging Eagle INSPECT, the inspector now builds a historical record for each asset. At future inspections, changes can be tracked year-over-year, highlighting whether structural issues have worsened, improved, or remained stable.
This proactive, data-driven approach allows for more meaningful inspections and supports preventative maintenance planning. It also creates opportunities for repeat business by offering clients long-term visibility into asset health.
